Kara
Kara, from the Laya edit.
This May edit began with Kara, a film whose visual world imoressed me as much as the story did.
"The film is set in Ramanathapuram in 1991, around a man who is pulled back into crime when his family’s ancestral land is seized. It carries the weight of survival, morality, land, family, and the kind of choices people make when life corners them."
What drew me in first was the way the film was graded. The warmer tones, shadowed frames, earthy browns, the deep reds, the feeling of something worn by time. I kept going back to the promotional artwork, colour grading, mood it created.
That became the starting point for this May edit.
One palette follows those deeper, heavier tones from the world of Kara. The other moves into brighter contrasts, with a few unexpected colours that still sit within the same feeling.
This edit is my small way of turning a film mood into sarees.
